CHIL253 Seminar in Classic Chinese Prose This class will provide the foundation of classic Chinese prose reading, learning elementary knowledge about classic Chinese prose by studying grammar characteristics and explaining the meanings after extracting exemplary sentences of short writings among Chinese scriptures, discipleship, history, and literature.
CHIL254 Elementary Chinese Conversation This class will enable students attended one semester to reach the level of basic Chinese(the goal of New HSK level 5).
CHIL316 The Current of Chinese Classical Literature 1 This class will concentrate on major writers and works about Chinese literature development and characteristics during the period from Pre-Qin Dynasty to Tang Dynasty.
CHIL317 The Current of Chinese Classical Literature 2 This class will enable students to learn the basics of understanding China studying major writers and works about Chinese literature development and characteristics during the period from Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty
CHIL351 Intermediate Chinese Conversation The class will enable students attended two semesters or more to improve the Chinese speaking ability of intermediate level(the goal of New HSK level 4-5).
CHIL352 Advanced Chinese Conversation The subject will enable students attended three or four semesters or more to improve the Chinese speaking ability of advanced level(the goal of New HSK level 5-6).
CHIL364 Chinese Novel Chinese traditional intellectuals did’t consider ‘factual record’ novel valuable. However, some Chinese people add imagination to narrative records constantly, making fictions and showing the highest ability of culture through the best literary works called Four Major Novels of Wonder or Six Major Novels of Wonder. The result of these novels have been recreated and reinterpreted as the contents of movies, dramas, animations, and games and so on, as well as strengthened their position as a classic through the present day. This class will enable students to study the universality of classic covering tradition and modern, investigating along with the way historical meaning of Chinese novel and today’s works are enjoyed.
CHIL365 Reading Intermediate Chinese This class will enable students attended two semesters or more to improve reading comprehension of intermediate level(the goal of New HSK level 5-6).
CHIL367 Reading Advanced Chinese This class will enable students attended three semesters or more to improve reading comprehension of intermediate level.
CHIL368 Chinese Literature and Culture This class will focus on exploring the relation of Chinese literature and Chinese culture under the premise that literature also is a part of culture. According to the choice of lecturer, different Chinese culture will be introduced based the relation to Chinese literature, which is helpful to understand the historical background Chinese literature and Chinese culture have interacted and towed.
CHIL371 Chinese Composition 1 This class will enable students attended two semesters or more to improve Chinese composition ability of basic level(the goal of New HSK level 4).
CHIL372 Chinese Composition 2 This class will enable students attended three semesters or more to improve Chinese composition ability of intermediate level(the goal of New HSK level 5).
CHIL383 Chinese Grammar 1 This class will focus on teaching systematically the morphological characteristics of modern Chinese in pronunciation, a variety of vocabularies, words structure, qualification, classification, culture and so on, along with Chinese application aspect, and developing the ability to produce the sentences available in actual conversation.
CHIL393 Understanding of Chinese Linguistics This class will enable students to learn characters, vocabularies, phonics, grammars and so on about Chinese language and Chinese linguistics systematically in the category of general linguistics and individual linguistics.
CHIL396 Chinese Grammar 2 This class is designed to develope an ability to use Chinese comprehensively including conversation, teaching systematically Chinese syntactic characteristics in the aspect of the relation of words and sentences, and the type and kind of sentences structure and so on.
CHIL425 Modern Chinese Literature and Thought Chinese modern literature is different from classic literature in various ways. As written letters forms were changed, the forms of expression were changed, ultimately literature meaning, ideological ideals and a way of thinking were changed. why does this kind of phenomenon appear? Once they were changed, what remains unchanged? Students can have a chance to think Chinese mental structure and cultural psychological traits in the 20-21century, looking in the aspects of modern China having many complications.
CHIL426 Readings in Classic Chinese Poetry This class will enable students to learn characteristics and raise understanding classic poetry through appreciation various works of major writers from Han to Quing, investigating the system and development of Chinese classic poetry.
CHIL433 Ci and Qu Students will appreciate Ci works and learn Ci’s characteristics as genre to represent Chinese verse along with poetry. Also students will apprehend the overview of Chinese verse, understanding approximatively Qu’s characteristics.
CHIL434 Understanding of Modern China (Capstone Design) It is necessary to understand China in the 21C. However, it is vague and superficial for Korean, not to mention Chinese to see level of understanding China. Their opinions is too economic market centered thought and biased nationalism. This class will examine the most basic situations to understand contemporary China. Students will examine fundamental materials and discuss them, identify what China face with, and raise understanding of current China.
CHIL437 Readings in Classic Chinese Prose This class will enable students to improve reading ability to classic along with understanding of famous sentences through Chinese history.
CHIL453 Reading and Discussion about Chinese History & Philosophy Text 1 This class is a prepared lecture to introduce texts related to history and philosophy including Confucian literature and his disciple’s books under judgement that Chinese literature can be understood deeply and in three dimensions based on universal knowledge encompassing literature, history, and philosophy. The lecturer will choose one or various texts and read them systematically and direct students to discussion.
CHIL454 Reading and Discussion about Chinese History & Philosophy Text 2 This class is a prepared lecture to introduce texts related to history and philosophy including Confucian literature and his disciple’s books under judgement that Chinese literature can be understood deeply and in three dimensions based on universal knowledge encompassing literature, history, and philosophy. The lecturer will choose one or various texts and read them systematically and direct students to discussion.
CHIL463 Chinese Language and Characters Students will raise Chinese application ability and acquire basic knowledge needed in studying advanced subjects through systemic education about Chinese language characteristics and the characters as a way of recording.
CHIL522 Shi-Jing and Chinese Culture Shi-Jing is the first poetry collections in China and consist of 305 poems composed for 500 from at the beginning of Western Zhou Dynasty to in the middle of Chunqiu. It was called “poem”, which was also an origin of “poem”. Since Han period, Shi-Jing has been recognized philosophical value as one of the Five classics in Confucian literature, also been a text respected from scholars throughout history because the life and emotion of people at that time were reflected frankly and it was recognized as one of origins from Chinese literature.
Thrughout Shi-Jing, students will raise culture to Chinese literature by understanding and appreciating the origins and its value of Chinese literature.
CHIL565 Chinese Translation Practice Students will get a feel for Chinese throughout Chinese translation, and improve Chinese-Korean, Koean-Chinese translation technique and translation capability.
CHIL566 Chinese Topic Presentation and Discussion Students will choose the specific theme related to Chinese literature, after materials collection and discussion based on the knowledge they have studied meanwhile, and complete final results equivalent to a graduation thesis.
CHIL567 Basics of Chinese Language and Literature This lecture is team-teaching one all of professors in this department participate in order to let students learn the basics of major for freshmen. All professors will teach them all ranges from the background of Chinese language and literature history and culture to Chinese language and linguistics, Chinese classic literature, studies in Chinese contemporary literature and so on
CHTR301 Chinese Culture and Trade Throughout the fusion education of Chinese society and culture, and Chinese economic and trade, this lecture will aim to cultivate men of talent with creativity combining knowledge and application correspond with the need of Northeast Asian Cooperation Initiative.
CHTR302 Interculture : Korea and China China has developed consistently on the strength of demand increase according to income increase, cultural industry policy and so on. In addition, as China is not only main country for contents export, but also has vast capital strength, it is possible to use as a market for contents production and as a bridgehead throughout Korea-China co-production projet and so on . The lecture will aim at strengthening the results of cooperation between two countries and contents production, exploring strategy in cultural contents industry cooperation
CHTR303 Modern Chinese Society and Economy Current China has undergone big social transition: from traditional society to modern society, from agricultural society to industrial society, from rural society to urban society, and from closed society to open society. China is proceeding these changes insisting socialist market economy system, but can’t avoid internal structural conflicts. Conflicts of interest, conflicts of new and old paradigm, and the difference of value and ideal radically occur. This class will aim to understand these radical changes and to explore changes in the future.

CLTR126 Understanding of the Chinese Literature This class is liberal arts lecture to direct approach to Chinese literature and Chinese literary history by genre. The lecturer will teach students majored and none major elements of Chinese literature characteristics focusing on topics, arouse their interest about Chinese literature, and cultivate elementary knowledge throughout Chinese literature.
CLTR205 Basic Writing
CLTR208 Intensive Writing This class will enable students to practice in order to write logically and persuasively contents throughout major. This class is not just elementary writing but aims for writing as product of critical thinking.
CLTR210 The Great Books Reading and Discussion This lecture is team-teaching liberal arts all professors participate in and introduce texts to have relevance to major aimed at Chinese language and literature, and freshmen. Students will read the great texts based on Chinese language and literature according to professor’s instruction, and understand deeply the contents through discussion.
CLTR554 Business Chinese This class as liberal arts will enable students attended three-four semesters or more to improve the ability of business scene practical Chinese(new HSK level 5 or higher).
